The Syilx Hunting Camp is a community-led initiative, supported by the Okanagan Nation Alliance, that takes place annually in October.

The camp brings our people together on the land to carry forward the teachings, responsibilities, and practices of our ancestors. It is a time to learn from our hunters and knowledge keepers, strengthen connections between generations, and share teachings about harvesting with respect and gratitude.

Through time on the land, participants build the skills and knowledge needed to provide for family and community while honouring our responsibilities to tmixʷ and all that sustains us.

Trek Objectives:

• Proactively assert our title, rights and responsibility to the land.
• Gather traditional foods to distribute among community members who are unable to harvest for themselves.
• Reintroduce Syilx youth to traditional hunting practices and protocols, fostering respect for our land.

Camp Rules:

• Bring your own camping gear and coolers.
• Safety is Essential: Due to isolation concerns, children must be supervised at all times.
• No Disposable Items: Bring your own plates, utensils, and cups.
• Zero Tolerance Policy: Substance abuse will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
