For Syilx people, wellness is reflected in the health of the individual, family, and community. These nested layers are inseparable and cannot be looked at in isolation. The ONA works closely with communities to build a collaborative approach to supporting communities to provide responsive wellness services.

Syilx policy and planning is embedded in captikʷɬ (traditional stories), nsyilxcən language, and the enowkin’wixw decision-making process. These frameworks assert Syilx title, rights, and responsibilities, guiding holistic territorial stewardship, cultural protection, and progressive, Indigenous-led community governance.
