SUMMARY:Salmon Feast
DESCRIPTION:Join our Celebration and Honour the Sacredness of the River\n\n\n\nThe Annual Salmon Feast is an essential practice in the continued organized efforts of the Okanagan Nation Alliance and member communities to raise the importance of the habitat protection and rehabilitation of local ecosystems\, watersheds\, and renew connections and relationships between all residents of the Region with water and fish. It is vitally important that we honour the salmon so they will always come back to feed the people. \n\n\n\nIt is one of the goals of the Syilx Okanagan Nation to carry on the work of the people’s ancestors and Elders who taught the importance of preserving and revitalizing the traditions\, customs\, and language of the Syilx people. The Salmon Feast honours the sacredness of the river at sx̌ʷəx̌ʷnitkʷ (Okanagan Falls)\, which is a culturally significant site for the Syilx Okanagan People\, and an important traditional fishing camp\, gathering place and trading site. \n\n\n\nThe Salmon Feast is a three-day event that involves multiple activities including: ceremonies\, a canoe paddle\, and on Sunday\, a salmon feast and ceremony for snx̌aʔiwləm (to honour the sacredness of the river). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSalmon Feast Poster+\n\n\n\n\nSF 2026 PosterDownload\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRequest For Cooks+\n\n\n\n\nSF Call for Cooks 2026Download\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nlimləmt to Our Sponsors\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFORTIS BC \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBC HYDRO\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBIG WHITE SKI RESORT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMandell Pinder LLP\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOBWB\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCOLUMBIA POWER \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nURBAN SYSTEMS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFIRST PEOPLES LAW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGORMAN BROS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUBCO\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLANDMARK SOLUTIONS \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCRSRI \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGrants & Funding \n\n\n\nThe 2026 Salmon Feast is proud to be a recipient of two grants that support and uplift culture\, heritage and arts in local communities. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArts and Heritage Grant\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCultural Practises Grant \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Dates:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Location:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact:
