The Syilx Fall Hunting Camp is a community-organized event that celebrates Syilx traditions and connection to the land. It is not hosted by the Okanagan Nation Alliance, but by community members who come together each fall to share knowledge, and pass on traditional hunting practices to future generations. The camp location changes each year, offering new opportunities to explore and learn from different areas within Syilx territory.
Trek Objectives:
- Proactively assert our title and rights and responsibility to the land.
- Gather traditional food to be dispersed throughout the communities to those that cannot harvest for themselves.
- Reintroduce our youth to traditional hunting practices and protocols and instill a respect for our land.
Camp Rules:
- Bring your own camping gear/coolers.
- Due To Isolation Concern: Safety is a MUST. Children must be supervised
- No Disposable Items: Bring your own plates, utensils and cups.
- ABSOLUTELY ZERO TOLERANCE for substance abuse.
*Follow the red flags to camp!
